Greater Rain Community Church is a Spirit filled, Bible preaching church in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, where Jesus Christ is honored and people gather from many different roads to seek Him together. In a noisy and unstable world, this Holy House stands as an anchor of hope and a harbor of peace for every soul that needs a real touch from God.

How We Got Started

On 6/26/2011, 5 of us gathered with a burden in our hearts and 2 words the Lord had spoken 4 months earlier.

We prayed, we opened the Bible, and we asked God for a church that would be a safe place for people to come, that would be built on love, and that the foundation would be Jesus, and that we would lift up the name of Jesus and be who and what we have been called to be…the Church.

The announcement went public the following week…Then on 7/3/2011, Greater Rain Community Church held our 1st official service, and we opened the doors believing God would do what only God can do…

WHAT WE HAVE SEEN SINCE THEN

From the beginning, the Lord has used GRCC to help people who were tired, hurting, confused, angry, ashamed, worn out, and at the end of themselves.
We have watched God save people, help families, heal hearts, mend minds, and put strength back in folks who did not think they had any strength left.
We have also walked through storms as a church family. We have stood in hospital rooms, we have stood in funeral homes, and we have learned that a real church has to be more than a crowd that shows up, but it has to be a family that stays and sticks together. That is why we do not try to be fancy.
We do strive for excellence, and we do our best to be faithful.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Forget labels because they’re too small to fully capture who we are. Yes, we’re a 5-fold-ministry oasis that is drenched in Pentecostal and Full Gospel experiences and backgrounds at the core.

We believe the Bible, from beginning to end.
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, crucified, buried, and raised again, and that salvation is by grace through faith in Him.
We preach repentance, we preach the blood, we preach the new birth, and we preach a life that honors the Lord. We believe Heaven’s too sweet, Hell’s to terrible, and eternity is too long to play games with God and that sin is still sin. We believe God still answers prayer, and we believe the Holy Ghost still changes people from the inside out.

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18.
That is not church language to us…That is the truth of our lives, because the ground is level at the cross and it is where everything can change for the repentant soul who needs something real, even those who have tried everything else.

EVERYBODY’S WELCOME. NOBODY’S PERFECT. ANYTHING’S POSSIBLE.

We have watched God reach addicts, church kids, skeptics, broken families, and quiet, hurting people who thought they were finished with church, and we have watched Him do what no program ever could. You do not have to dress a certain way to come be in the house of God with us. Your history, your story, your past does not disqualify you from coming to church and seeking the Lord. You will find mercy here and a church family that actually cares if you make it. You will hear truth in the pulpit and see grace, mercy, and love lived both in and out of this Holy House.

COME AND SEE, GO AND SERVE

We gather to seek the Lord together, then we carry His love into homes, workplaces, schools, and the everyday life of this region.
We believe every born again believer has a place in the body of Christ and a part in what the Lord is doing in this town, this county, the surrounding counties, and this region.
From prayer meetings to outreach, from children’s church to drama to media and tech, we want every gift and every calling active.
We want every person’s hand on the plow and engaged in the work of the Lord.

Our Rallying Cries:

  • Experience God, Experience Grace: Listen, this is not just some slogan…it’s our call to action, our call to awakening. Life can be messy, people are messy, but as we come together on this journey, we know the Lord is going to help each and every one of us…and we are to help one another along the way. This unity combined with an expectancy for miracles prepares the way for literally anything to happen.
  • Love Differently: We believe in loving like Christ Jesus…and in this day and age, that means we love like revolutionaries.
  • Think Legacy: Don’t be held back by your past or crippled by your present, let God take control, and let’s start building for eternity.
  • Live by Faith, Be Known by Love, Be a Voice of Hope: This is part of our anthem and we hope and pray that it will become part of yours too.

WHAT A SERVICE FEELS LIKE HERE

We love jubilant praise and strong, authentic worship. We love straight, anointed, undiluted preaching. We love altar time and praying for one another. And we believe people ought to have room to pray, cry, repent, and seek God for themselves.

We also love our young people, and we believe families should worship together. On Sundays, children worship with us, then right before preaching they are dismissed to the back so they can be taught on their level while the Word of God is preached in the sanctuary.

Services in a storefront church can and will be louder than most sanctuaries. You have to keep in mind, if you have everything low, you’re going to hear every sniffle, cough, and sneeze. We believe you can live your faith out loud, and it is ok to praise, worship, and cry out to the Lord without the worry of being “too loud” — after all, the world is “loud” with the filth and wickedness of this world. Here, we drown out the noise of the world and we pour out in praise, worship, preaching, and praying!
